How a liner job works
Inspection first
We inspect the flue with a camera and measure it. The size of the liner depends on the fireplace or the appliance it vents.
A flat-rate quote
Liner jobs are quoted per job at a flat rate, based on the chimney height, access, materials and scope. Taxes and permit costs are added to the quote.
Installation
We lower the stainless steel liner through the flue from the roof and connect it at the bottom to the fireplace or the appliance.
The top
At the top we seal the liner and finish it with a cap, so rain, birds and debris stay out. See chimney caps.
Payment
Installation jobs need a 50% deposit, and the balance is due when the work is done.
Chimney liner questions
How do I know if my chimney needs a new liner?
An inspection shows it. Cracked or missing clay tiles, open joints between tiles, and a flue that is the wrong size for a new boiler or water heater are the usual reasons. We look at the flue with a camera and show you what we see. More in when a chimney needs a stainless steel liner.
What size liner does my chimney need?
It depends on what the chimney vents. For a fireplace, the liner is sized to the fireplace opening. For a boiler or water heater, it is sized to the appliance. We measure the flue and check the fireplace or appliance before we quote.
Do you line chimneys for gas boilers and water heaters?
Yes. We install liners for gas boilers and water heaters in homes and apartment buildings. See boiler and water heater venting.
Can a liner go into a chimney in a row house?
Yes. Most of our liner jobs are in older masonry chimneys. We lower the liner from the roof, so the work inside the home is usually at the fireplace or the appliance connection.
What payment do you need for a liner job?
Installation and repair jobs need a 50% deposit, with the balance due when the work is complete.
